Daytime Soap Operas

You have traditions in your family. Some are significant like how you celebrate the holidays or when heirlooms are passed down to younger family members. Wood and steel framed Guest Chair are best for the former and sofas for the latter. However, there are smaller traditions that you do and have done for a long time, and you often do not think of these things as traditions, but they are. One thing that runs in some families is which daytime soap operas they watch. These are not important or significant in life, but we often watch what our mothers watched, and that carries on as long as a soap is still on the air.

You may think that daytime soap operas are a dying breed, and you are probably right. There are still plenty of people that enjoy them though. In recent years, many have gone off the air. NBC had a soap called Passions that aired for a while, but then NBC decided to drop it due to lack of revenue. This went to Direct TV for a time, but then when off the air there as well. A few of the actors from that show are now on Days Of Our Lives, but Passions is no more. There are many daytime soap operas that have had the same fate, but they had been on the air for much longer.

Recently, one of the longest running daytime soap operas ever shot their last show. Guiding Light has been around since the days of radio. This soap was aired on the radio long before soap operas – or anything else for that matter – were on television. This soap was on CBS for a long time, but like other shows in the daytime, it was not performing as the studio wanted, and though they tried a few things the change the show to gain a wider audience, the show is now going off the air. If this trend keeps up, there may be no daytime soap operas left in ten years.

Days Of Our Lives has a been on NBC for a very long time and continues to go strong today, but there are rumors that it may one day be off of the air. This would mean that NBC has complete abandoned the daytime soap format for more news or other types of shows. This is just a rumor, but there is always some truth behind rumors. Days has a huge audience in age range, as teens to older women watch it. Some men stay up with Days as well. That may not be enough to keep in on the air, however, as it seems soaps are not as popular as they once were.

For now, there are still some great daytime soap operas on television if you love watching them and if it is something you have always done in your family. You can read in regards to the benefits and downsides of the various kinds of Guest Chairs in addition to product opinions beneath the sections of our site particularly dedicated to guest seating. Enjoy them while you can, but understand that they may not be around forever. If you fear your favorite show is going out of style and may be discontinued, you can always voice your opinion to the network that airs the show at the present time. Some daytime soap operas may get a second life like Passions did, but even then, like Passions, they may not last very long beyond that point.
